As discussed (at length) in the last post, the Avios.com scheme, one of three schemes that use Avios points, has been expanded from the UK to also cover South Africa.
Until 6th October, South Africa resident members of the Avios.com scheme can enter the “Avios and Away” competition: http://aviosandaway.avios.com/
The terms (http://aviosandaway.avios.com/terms/)are worth a read to understand it, each day at least 50,000 Avios will be given away, and you can enter once a day. Depending upon how you set your sliders, will determine if you are in the draw for the day.
2 million Avios are being given away in total.
Pick n Pay – 500 bonus points:
If you convert 800 smart shopper points into Avios before the 29th November, you will receive 500 bonus Avios.

Can you get a Standard Bank Avios credit card ?
If you get a Standard Bank “British Airways” Credit Card your Avios points earned will be credited to an account held by the British Airways Exective Club. This can be accessed through the website ba.com
If you get an Avios credit card it will be issued by ABSA Bank and your Avios points will be credited to an account with Avios (a British Airways) subsidiary. This can be accessed through the website avios.com.
The exective club is designed for frequent fliers, you can use your points on a wide variety of airlines and if you buy enough flights per year you get special priveledges like airport lounge access.
There are 2 Avios schemes one open to people with addresses in the UK and one open to people with addresses in South Africa. The South Africa scheme is the new one just launched in partnership with Pick n Pay, ABSA and BP.
